Revolution Media website is used mostly as a showcase of what can be done to make a website more interactive. To achieve that I’m using jQuery Java Script library with loads of plugins. There is plugin I’m using to shuffle images in Our Work section, plugin I’m using to handle HTML forms request and there’s a plugin to make nice parallax effect as the one used in Free Quote section.
What is Parallax? According to Wikipedia definition of Parallax it is an apparent displacement or difference of orientation of an object viewed along two different lines of sight, and is measured by the angle or semi-angle of inclination between those two lines.[1][2] The term is derived from the Greek παράλλαξις (parallaxis), meaning “alteration”. In video games the scene was constructed of independent layers that were scrolled at different speeds when the player/cursor moved. This gave some layers the appearance of being farther away than others and was useful for creating an illusion of depth, but only worked when the player was moving.
